Every year, Adelaide’s Hilltop Hoods join forces with APRA to fund the Hilltop Hoods Initiative. It’s a special prize for new hip-hop artists in the Australian scene, and the pay off is enormous. This year, rainbow-haired Chelsea Jane has snagged the top spot.

The grant entitles Jane to $10 000 for the production and promotion of an album, a Shure Microphone prize pack and legal counselling from Media Arts Lawyers.

The announcement of her win coincides with the release of a new EP Queen Of The Hill, dropping on iTunes on Fri Mar 29. Jane is also in the shortlist for the 2012 OzHipHop Award for Best Female MC.
