Adding to the growing list of established artists who are using 2013 to drop new, much-awaited material – spearheaded by David Bowie’s first new album in a decade – are French house duo, Daft Punk.

Sometime in May is the expected date for the still-unnamed fourth studio album (fifth if you include the Tron: Legacy soundtrack) from Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, marking a long time between drinks following 2005’s Human After All. Alternative sources also refer to a March 13 release with a title No End, but this hasn’t been confirmed, so it may be an elaborate hoax.

As with most with Daft Punk – and dance music in general – the specific details of the album are shrouded in tasty mystery. The juiciest rumours are that Nile Rogders from Chic, Italian producer Giorgio Moroder, Oscar winner Paul Williams, Feist collaborator Chilly Gonzales and Animal Collective’s Panda Bear may all dipped their talented fingers into the Daft Punk pie.

The album will be released under Columbia Records, which makes the part between the duo with their old label, EMI’s Virgin Records, official after 17 years.

Hopefully with the new album come more inspired music videos, like the Michael Gondry-directed video from 1997 that you can relive below.
