Following last month’s announcement that they were back in the game, Empire Of The Sun have released the first single from their highly-awaited second album Ice On The Dune – a track called Alive.
After going off the radar in 2009 following well-circulated media fodder that there had been disputes between members Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, the Australian duo resurfaced last month to announce that their sophomore record Ice On The Dune would be coming this June.
The first taste of the new material is here in the form of Alive, an upbeat number with throbbing bass, cascading synth hooks and washes of carefully considered blips and bloops. “Say hello to the future,” a chorus sings in the bridge. Indeed. Listen below.
