After announcing that they will be performing for the first time in Australia since 2001 at Groovin’ The Moo, They Might Be Giants have also announced a host of sideshow dates.

Founding members keyboardist and sometimes accordionist John Linnell and guitarist John Flansburgh will be joined on stage by their full band, roading out a fuller onstage presence with bass, drums and lead guitar.

Moving to Brooklyn to form the band from their native Massachusetts, They Might Be Giants became a prime example of the booming relationship between performance art and music that dominated New York’s East Village in the mid-’80s. You may best remember them for the impossibly catchy Doctor Worm of 1998 and the theme song to Malcolm In The Middle. Re-listen to Doctor Worm and try and get it out of your head. Double dare you.

With over 30 years of music-making and genre-bending under their belts, the 11-date sideshow tour will relcaim much of the nostalgia and innovation that They Might Be Giants have become respected for. See it for yourself – for the first time in over a decade – when they play at The Gov on Thu May 9.

They Might Be Giants Australian Tour:
Wed Apr 24 – Metro Theatre, Sydney
Thu May 2 – Cornor Hotel, Melbourne
Wed May 8 – The Zoo, Brisbane
Thu May 9 – The Gov, Adelaide
