Here are the Splash Adelaide events to add to your Winter Calendar

Words by June 24, 2015

Fresh off the back of recent successes like East End Wine Down and the fabulously colourful Eurovision Song Contest screenings, Splash Adelaide is gearing up for a busy calendar of winter events including performing and visual arts, street and laneway activations, recreational activities, and fashion shows.

Splash has a successful history of teaming up with local businesses and community members to produce dynamic events in Adelaide, encouraging the take up of unused and underutilised spaces to transform the city streets, squares and laneways into unique areas. For people with fresh ideas and an entrepreneurial streak, Splash is able to provide a support grant, advice on running events, assistance obtaining required approvals, and also promote the event through both paid and free advertising. Check out a selection of the rad events planned to pry you away from your Netflix subscription this winter.

FASHION CONCEPT

Fashion Concept will be a runway show curated to showcase the talents of local fashion designers – a unique show filled with fashion and live music in the heart of the stunning Queens Theatre this August.

CITY WIDE AFTER DARK

Thursdays evenings across the month of August will see the CBD streets come to life with music, dance, live performance and temporary art installations, and will complement the current ART AFTER Dark West End Initiative.

GLOGG

The Blue Hive will this August play host to food and wine event GloGG – on the menu to fill winter bellies will be mulled wines and ciders paired with warming dishes from city and regional chefs, with the soundtrack to be supplied by live local musicians.

BOUCLE DE BURBS

Back again for 2015, Treadly Bike Shop’s Boucle De Burbs is a cycling tour of uncharted backstreets and laneways of Adelaide and the surrounding suburbs. Keen riders will be given a map to follow, with opportunities to refuel at local cafes along the way on Sunday, August 30. No lycra required.

Draw Your (S)words

Friday nights monthly will play host to Draw Your S(W)ords, an evening for spoken word artists to perform poetry to a live crowd in an intimate venue – dates and locations will be revealed super soon.
