Meet the artists behind the Adelaide Fringe Street Art Explosion

The Street Art Explosion has hit our city just in time . All across our fair city a dedicated group of tireless street artists are hard at work transforming our lifeless and bare walls into colourful works of art.

But this isn’t exactly your typical art viewing experience. Encompassing 19 sites across the CBD and suburbs, Street Art Explosion not only showcases work by some of Australia’s finest artistic talent but also provides viewers with an immersive augmented reality experience.

Let’s meet some of the artists shall we?

Dave Court

Dave Court

An Adelaide based painter, illustrator and designer, Dave Court is comfortable working across a variety of media. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts with honours specialising in painting at the end of 2013, he participated in immersive art project Mr IST and has gone on to work on multiple public art projects since.

Dave has been working on the Bakehouse Theatre for Street Art Explosion:

Leah Grant

Leah Grant is an emerging artist based in Adelaide. She explores the textures and colours of various mediums, focusing most recently with photography, ink, aerosol and gouache.

Leah Grant Bio

Graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Federation University in 2009, Leah also went on to complete a Diploma of Education (Secondary) in 2012. She has completed numerous public art pieces in Adelaide and Geelong. This includes Powerhouse, Little Rundle Street Project and Blyth Street Light Box Gallery. Leah has also exhibited at solo and joint shows in Adelaide, Melbourne and Geelong.

Tom Buchan

Thom Buchanan is a painter, drawer and cross-disciplinary artist. He has exhibited extensively locally, nationally, and internationally and has been a finalist and winner of numerous art prizes. In 2011 Buchanan collaborated with Australian Dance Theatre on ‘Worldhood’.

In 2013 he was commissioned to produce several major collaborations including, the Centenary of Canberra 2013 live performance drawing with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the State Theatre Company on The Kreutzer Sonata for Adelaide Festival 2013. He was one of several artists commissioned as part of Rise Festival, Christchurch, New Zealand, to create a mural in Canterbury Museum.
