Senator Sam Dastyari attacks Adelaide after WSW loss

Words by James McCann May 2, 2016

New South Wales senator Sam Dastyari, no doubt heartbroken after Western Sydney Wanderers (WSW) lost 3 – 1 to Adelaide United on Sunday, has had a go at the great city of Adelaide in parliament today. If WSW fans trashing our oval wasn’t bad enough, Dastyari has tried to trash our reputation.

“It must have been a tough week for Senator Bernardi in Adelaide. There was the A-League final, and his city was overrun by a bunch of halal-eating, drum-beating, Sydney loving football fans.”

“We beat you,” observed Bernardi.

“You may have won the A-League final,” rejoined a smirking Dastyari, “but we get to go back to Sydney and you have to stay in Adelaide.”

There’s nothing wrong with having a go at a politician. Heck, Adelaidians go after Bernardi more than anybody else does (remember the time we WSW’d his office?) but attacking the great city of Adelaide is totally out of line. Really poor stuff here from Sam. There’s no cause for that sort of talk no matter how woefully your football team gets clobbered.

Yes, but they do have to go back to Western Sydney.
