Hot Brown Honey

Words by Lisa Banks February 28, 2016

Full of sass, style and music that will have you shaking what your mama gave ya, the ladies from Hot Brown Honey are one Fringe act you won’t want to miss.

This unapologetic and energetic performance by Briefs Factory will entertain you with a brilliant mashup of music, dance and burlesque, all the while challenging your perceptions of gender, colour and privilege.

Hot Brown Honey breaks down stereotypes through musical performances that are filled with side splitting humour and words of wisdom from MC Busty Beatz who sits atop the Hive and embraces the Word of the Mother.

Making light of many facets of racism, culture and Australian society, the performance also has a serious side, with two moving solos of dance and acrobatics.

If you’re looking for a passionate performance that carries a serious message, then Hot Brown Honey is the show for you. With members of the audience often getting involved in the fun throughout the performance, you could even get up close and personal with the Honies themselves – but don’t you dare touch their hair!

Hot Brown Honey continues at Royal Croquet Club – The Menagerie until 6 March.
