The Kagools: Dressed for the British Summer
4.5 4.5The title says it all – which is just as well as what followed was an hour of mime and physical comedy. Dressed in the titular black rain coats, Nicola Wilkinson and Claire Ford inhabited the stage from the start, involving many members of the audience in their antics.
With immaculate timing and the ingenious use of a projector and screen the Kagools managed to travel between worlds – without it, a countryside picnic with a man dressed as a bear would have been impossible (don’t ask, but I don’t think he enjoyed it…)
Throughout the show there was continual rivalry as to be expected from best friends, from flirting with an attractive audience member to blowing raspberries and who had the best lollies. Eating a giant Mars bar made this show as dangerous as any sword-swallowing.
The finale showed the bickering to be superficial and with a life-affirming ending and visual punch line referring back an earlier joke, the audience left happier, slightly damper and hoping Paddy Pallin’s was still open.
The Kagools: Dressed for the British Summer continues at Gluttony until Monday, March 14.
