Adelaide’s ritual gathering of food trucks will take place again this weekend with A Fork in the Park. A selection of new food trucks, along with all of our favourites, are coming together at a special location to celebrate the opening of a new park and public space in Bowden.
Being held at the new Park 27B, A Fork in the Park will officially open the new space this Saturday, which will provide a ‘front yard’ for the transforming Bowden precinct.
Bowden has been creating a buzz with its residential development attracting homebuyers to the area, for its affordable, ‘almost’ city living. Residents have often downsized from big homes and gardens to ‘lock up and leave’ living, making this new park a significant outdoor space for locals to use.
Along with the Park Lands upgrade, Bowden will soon see the redevelopment of a vacant warehouse into Plant 4, a hip produce market run by the people behind Market Shed on Holland, and a touch-up to the Bowden Town Square.
The State Government, Adelaide City Council and the City of Charles Sturt have worked together to develop the new park, which features a nature playground, basketball and tennis courts, BBQs, shade, a skate park and plenty of grass space.
A Fork in the Park will feature 20 of Adelaide’s finest food trucks, covering a collection of cuisines including Cambodian, Mexican, Argentinian, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Spanish and Moroccan. A licensed area will feature local brewers, cider makers and wine makers, including the Wheatsheef brewery, Swell Brewing, Three Dark Horses, Lobo Cider and the Big Shed Brewing Concern.
Some new additions to the Fork family this Saturday will be Pop Catering and Mullygrubs, offering a selection of tapas and kaleidescope of fine grub.
Local folk musicians Banjo Jackson and Kaurna Cronin will serenade crowds – making every bite sweeter – throughout the day, and families and kids can enjoy entertainment from Dig-A-Dino and Plai space.
