Paper Arms farewell show
The Jade, 8.00pm

It’s always sad to see a long-running Adelaide band call it quits, but after eight years punk rock four-piece are saying farewell with one final show. This won’t be a sad affair however, with Hightime and Stolen Youth on board to make it a party to remember – and a loud one to boot. Mosh through the tears, you lot, mosh through the tears :'(

Adam Page: Chairman of the Beard
Royal Croquet Club, 8.00pm

We’re not really sure what Adelaide’s master of instrument-hopping improvisation has in store for his Fringe show, but then again, neither does he. But even if the specific notes and sounds are still percolating in the recesses of Page’s subconscious and muscle memory, you can bet it will be an extremely entertaining night of looping fun.

Dumb Things Tribute: Paul Kelly Tribute
Adelaide Town Hall, 8.00pm

An all-star cast of Adelaide scene regulars including familiar faces like Kaurna Cronin,  last year’s #RIUHotSix-er Delia Obst  and Banjo Jackson  front up this already half sold out show that delves into Paul Kelly’s illustrious back catalogue. Expect a bunch of cuts from Post  and his early 90s peak – maybe don’t hold out hope for any Dots-era material.

The Skeleton Club: Freak You
Ancient World, 7.30pm

If you’re a fan of YouTube videos that semi-ironically cover pop and RnB classics in soulful acoustic forms, this Fringe show by Adelaide group The Skeleton Club will be right up your alley. No buffering required!

Saturday, February 27

Tripfest
The Gov, 7.30pm

ICYMI, Adelaide’s in the midst of a real boom when it comes to psych bands, with long-running acts like The Dunes rubbing shoulders with younger upstarts like Druid Fluids.  Taking over The Gov, this self-styled ‘Psychedelic/Stoner Festival’ will feature a rich lineage from  The Dunesand  Velvet Moth  to  Vic Conrad& The 1st  3rd.

Conrad, of course, has keeping psych-rock alive in Adelaide since the 80s in Greasy Pop bands like The Garden Path. It should be a huge night of droning organs, effects-laden guitars and plenty of colour.

Acoustic Africa
Mama Jambo, 7.00pm

Adelaide’s newest African inspired café and wine bar officially opened this week after months of preparation, and what better way to celebrate than with this Fringe show featuring Adelaide via Nigeria musician Moore Black in collaboration with Ghana’s Ras Minano.

Mama Jambo, Eliza Street, Adelaide

Sunday, February 28

Margie Jean Lewis, Naomi Keyte and Water Bear
Grace Emily Hotel, 8.00pm

Margie Jean Lewis is a recent returnee to Adelaide, having ventured back to Australia after several years based in Dublin. She’ll be making plenty of new fans back home with her enveloping, vocal driven creations, sounding like a slightly more decipherable Juliana Barwick.
