Adelaide punk rock trio Grenadiers have resurfaced to deliver a surprise new single, and are piling in the tour van to take it to fans around the country.
2015 was a huge year for the band, with their long-awaited sophomore album Summer scoring triple j Feature Album status, a spot in the Australian Music Prize longlist and saw them play to huge crowds alongside acts like Cold Chisel and Unwritten Law. While that album was several years in the making, they’ve wasted no time at all cutting a sequel, with Live Fast, Diabetes the first taste of a new album slated for a Spring 2016 release.
With an RSI-inducingly speedy opening riff, pounding rhythm section and some pleasing harmonised backing vocals on the chorus to add a little sweetness to all that musical biffo, it’s a solid extension of the Summer sessions and an interesting glimpse of the new LP.
They’ll be joined by fellow Adelaideans Horror My Friend throughout the tour, who themselves are still coasting on the release of their debut album Stay In, Do Nothing last month.
