Award winning, dancefloor crushing Adelaide producer Motez has returned with a follow-up track to last year’s hit EP Vancouver, and he’s enlisted the talents of Tkay Maidza to get the job done.

On Down Like This shimmering synths and satisfying crunchy handclaps set the pace for a driving, insistent tech house beat and a simple but effective refrain from Maidza, plus a lightning fast verse at the halfway point. It’s a refreshing return to some of Maidza’s early work after a few singles that have focused as much on her talent for huge, airplay-baiting sung hooks as her distinctive flow.

It’s basically a match made Adelaide music heaven, with both acts doing our city proud on a global stage as well as cleaning up back home with big wins at last year’s SAM Awards.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Down Like This takes off with the same gusto as Vancouver’s hit Tryna Shake It, but with a beguiling mix of both artists’ strengths, it’s pretty well placed.
