The Lonely Island, AKA Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, are coming back with a new feature film. It’s called Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, and it looks to be a pretty cutting satire of contemporary pop culture. They haven’t been this on-point since lampooning the rap-boat obsession of 2008:
It’s the first feature film from the rap ensemble since 2007’s excellent, completely commercially unviable Hot Rod.
The Judd Apatow produced Popstar is itself a star studded affair, featuring Sarah Silverman, Snoop Dogg, DJ Khaled, Maya Rudolph, and stacks of others. Although it doesn’t appear to feature Justin Bieber, we reckon you’ll be thinking of him throughout.
