The Hilltop Hoods have reprised their collaboration with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra with new album Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung.

Following the successful 2007 rework of their fourth studio album The Hard Road, the new release revisits key cuts from both of the band’s last albums Walking Under The Stars andDrinking From The Sun – with the addition of the 32 piece ASO squad plus the 20 pieceAdelaide Chamber Singers Choir. Working with composer Jamie Messenger and conductorHamish McKeich and recorded over two years, the project puts an entirely new spin on some of the trio’s more recent hits.

They’ll be taking the orchestral makeover on the road for their only headline tour for 2016, which looks set to be their most elaborate run of dates yet. Taking in five dates around Australia, the tour will see the band team up with choirs and orchestras right around the country with conductor McKeich on board to keep it all consistent.

“We’re pretty excited to be hitting the road backed by an orchestra and a choir,” MC Suffa says of the project. “The songs are going to take on a whole new life with fifty plus musicians joining us on stage.”

It is, of course, the latest chapter in a rich history of hip hop acts teaming up with orchestras.

Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung will be out via the band’s Golden Era Records label on Friday, February 19. Tickets to all shows are available here.
